Women’s Group

Our Welca group continues to serve even though our numbers continue to slowly drop.  We continued to meet on our regular schedule until December.  At that time, we voted to meet twice a year to do our business and to call a special meeting if we needed to.  We now meet in May with a potluck dinner and in December with a potluck meal as well.
Welca continues to serve the church in various ways.  We oversee the funeral groups and see to it that a meal is provided for families of our deceased members after the funeral.  We also purchase and deliver flowers to shut-ins in May.  We purchase and deliver fruit baskets to our shut-ins in December.  We have delivered to 22 shut-ins on each occasion.  They enjoy the flowers and fruit, but also enjoy having a visit from us.
Last year we also served Joy Day for our seniors and shut-ins at the Civic Center.  We provided lunch for about 80 seniors and their caretakers in December.
We are involved in collecting funds for Hunger and World Relief.  Last year, we sent $150 to World Hunger.  We also sent $150 to Luther Park and $100 to Lutheran Social Services.
We are also involved in helping with Quilting.  Last year, the ladies made 52 quilts and 44 layettes that were sent to World Relief.
We also purchase a new coffee pot for the kitchen.
We send get well cards and take prayer shawls to our members who are ill.
Our group may be small, but we do many things in the name of our Lord.
